World & Research

A civilization cannot survive on atmosphere alone.

The research and the production world are built around the same question: if people actually had to live here, would it still work?

My working rule

If the road exists, it has to lead somewhere.

That sentence came out of a very practical problem. I could make Asgard look impressive faster than I could make it make sense. That was not good enough.

A road affects travel. Water affects settlement. Farms affect households. Law affects behavior. A stable affects how many animals can actually move through a sequence. The world starts becoming useful when those things stop being background decoration and start affecting the story.

The Echoes production world is being developed through Gaea and Unreal Engine as connected geography that can inform writing, previs, camera planning, movement, design and eventually virtual production.

Research boundary

Three layers. Kept separate.

Attested Source

What surviving Old Norse and Old Icelandic textual witnesses actually preserve.

Historical Context

Archaeology, law, settlement, households, mobility and material culture used to test whether the world can function.

Echoes Adaptation

Where the story interprets, combines, expands or invents, it stays in the adaptation layer.
